How we build
Modern development tools make it possible to build far more software than was practical just a few years ago. As implementation becomes easier, engineering discipline matters more. The quality of the result increasingly depends on the standards, constraints, and review processes around the code.
Our apps are built around a consistent set of standards: simple architectures, minimal dependencies and permissions, rigorous coding standards, and intentionally limited access to external systems.
Open source and managed hosting
We publish the source code for every app we build. Transparency makes our claims about permissions, data handling, network access, and application behavior independently verifiable. Anyone can inspect the code and, where practical, install and run the apps themselves for free.
Our managed versions are designed for organizations that prefer the convenience of reliable updates, security fixes, maintenance, and ongoing compatibility without managing the software themselves.
Privacy
Our privacy standards start with no external data egress by default. Any feature that needs to send data to an external service should make that requirement clear, including what is sent and why.
We keep sensitive content, credentials, and access tokens out of application logs. Our diagnostics are designed to identify problems without collecting unnecessary customer data. We limit permissions, data access, and storage to what each app needs to function.
